Measure a shirt
you already love.
Size runs and exact numbers differ from garment to garment, so this page teaches the three measurement points and how to read any chart. The chart on each product page is the final word for that piece.
How to measure
The reliable way: measure a piece you already own that fits well, then match numbers.
- The method
- Lay the garment flat on a table, not on your body. Smooth it out, take the three points shown below, and match them to the chart. No guessing from height or weight.
- Chest, flat
- Width is measured flat, armpit seam to armpit seam. It is half the full circle, so double it if you think in circumference.
- No tape?
- Run a string along the same points, then lay the string against a ruler.
- Inches
- Every chart in this shop is in inches, with one decimal where it matters.
The three points
Dashed lines show exactly where each number is taken on the flat garment.
- 01
Length
Place the end of the tape beside the collar at the top of the garment, the highest point of the shoulder. Pull the tape straight down to the bottom hem.
- 02
Width
Place the end of the tape at the seam under the sleeve and pull it across the garment to the seam under the opposite sleeve.
- 03
Sleeve length
Place one end of the tape at the top of the set-in sleeve, then pull it down to the hem of the sleeve. On a hoodie this runs the long way to the cuff.
Reading a chart
Each column carries a letter that matches the diagram above it. Match your flat measurements to the closest row.

Fit notes
- 01
Tees run true to size
Regular unisex cut. Order your usual size for a regular drape, one size up for a looser one.
- 02
Hoodies run relaxed
Room is built in for layering. Order your usual size, and size up only for an oversized look.
- 03
Between two sizes
Decide by length first, then width. Length is what people notice most. Size up if you want more drape.
- 04
Never assume across products
Different blanks measure differently, and two hoodies can sit half an inch apart at the same size. Always check the chart of the exact piece in your cart.
Your product page
- Where to look
- Every apparel product page carries its own size guide next to the size selector, with the diagram and the full chart for that exact garment.
- What it shows
- The three points drawn on that garment, the size run it comes in, and the measurements per size. The letters match this page's definitions.
- Made to order
- Allow up to 2 inches of variance from piece to piece. It is part of making the garment after you order it.
- The final word
- If anything on this page and a product page ever disagree, the product page wins for that garment.
